//inner city life//

another successful shopping trip to sydney today. i don't think i'll ever get sick of seeing the city as i approach on the train...quite spectacular. and the suburbs are so lush and green...it's great.

today i checked out oxford st. on my [unsuccessful] search for the new downsyde album. unfortunately nowhere had a copy [tho i've found an excellent hip hop store called 'next level' on liverpool st. - cute guys and an impressive range of aussie hip hop]. i picked up the first 'culture of kings' compilation as i've been meaning to get it for ages, and would also like to get my hands on some of the hilltop hoods stuff. also noticed today that centrals had a live jurassic 5 album which i now must have, plus i found lots of cds by dj shadow/nu mark/cut chemist et al. which i must check out at some stage. anyway...as i said unsuccessful on the downsyde front, tho a nice chap at soul records [or some such place] on oxford st. gave me their promo cd which was rather nice of him - so if you're on oxford st. please visit him and buy something [unlike me, who just scabbed].

also on oxford st. is the very wonderful ariel bookstore. probably one of the coolest bookstores i've been to [apart from borders in adelaide - they kick ass!!]. it specialises in the more high-brow lit stuff and graphic design/art/architecture books [was in my element]. get this [wot makes them so special...] they stock BANKSY books!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! unfortunately they were out of stock but at least the chick knew what i was talking about and told me they had had them in the past. since borders seem to be having trouble sourcing 'existencillism' i've now got them on the case too - it will be mine!!!!!

another cool thing about my train trips to sydney is the interesting grafitti and tags that are abundant along the tracks which makes my journey more enjoyable. well now i'm knackered, pizza and eastenders is calling. off to listen to my new cds and chill out with the house to myself. au revoir!

//quickie//

just a quick one today. out shopping for a decent plug for the kitchen sink so i can do the dishes. still haven't finished my laundry and it's now 5.30pm [ignore whatever blogger says..it's crap]. hoping to get all that done b4 6pm so i can watch eastenders cause i've got the place to myself tonight. had such a lazy day today. have cleaned my room tho and done some washing so not too bad.

having a bit of a look see on the net for rental places in chatswood. figured since i might be doing the share house search thing back to front i might start looking for some places that are nice. have found a choice looking 3 bedroom house for only $395 which isn't bad. off to check how close it is to nrth shore line. hope i'm not getting ahead of myself here, but if all goes well i think we'll need to have found a decent place in 4 wks so no harm in checking it out :)

anyway...off to finish my domestic duties!

//big up the massive//

today i bought a copy of the herd's new ablum 'an elefant never forgets' and it's excellent - much more political than their first effort [which if you're familiar with it means it's heaps political!]. particular faves so far are 'burn down the parliament' [what was i saying about political??],'77%', and 'high seas' is also very cool! there's still some of the lighthearted elements that made up at least the first few tracks of their last album [and maybe one or two towards the end] but the tone is definately more serious as the titles sort of suggest.

anyway that's my rant for today...a must have for fans of aussie hip hop! hoping they'll play again here soon cause i might not be so lame next time and go anyway

//156 tricks//

well i'm now on the tail end of my weekend off. doesn't half go in quickly. yesterday me n beck went down to chatswood and gee it's a cool place. it's weird for a suburb because they have tall buildings so you feel like you're in the city almost. the shopping centre is huge...bigger than the one at hornsby...and has some very very cool shops. lots of trendy homeware places and my favourite had to be bay swiss which is abundant with gorgeous things and also has a cute swiss deli where everything is delicious. they had a brilliant shoe shop with lots of glorious sneakers that i could easily spend all of my money on. i think i might have to have a new pair of reeboks as they've got some of the old skool styles back and they are pretty cool. also nice to see lacoste and rockport making a bit of an aussie comeback...not just for the tennis set/geriatric set!

didn't get a chance to check out the streets tho to see how things look but i think i would like to live there. seems a bit more edgy than hornsby and more of a younger scene. yay!

didn't go out last night. spewing because 'the herd' were playing at the gaelic club in surry hills. wasn't keen on going to surry hills on my own tho and not too many other people i know here are into hip hop. their new album is out and waiting for it to come into work so i can get it. also trying to find the new album from perth's downsyde cause it sounds pretty cool too but unfortunately we're not getting it and not many commercial record stores carry the stuff i'm told, so might have to hunt around town for it.

did manage to pick up a rather nice tshirt yesterday with an interesting design on the front by the surfer ozzie wright. has this naked chick with bunny ears, smoking a cigarette and looking very edgy. it's a very scratchy design so there's nice touches too it like the paint on the nipple dribbling down...quite an effect. you can find the design on the volcom web site as they have an area with ozzie's designs on it...again, help yourself to the link. looking forward to wearing it to work...still haven't introduced borders hornsby to the battle royale tshirt yet...their time will come tho :)

so yeah, last night, watched 'pay it forward'. hayley joel osmont or whatever his name is is in it and gee he's one of the most annoying kids i've ever seen. was an ok film tho...sad ending, bit unexpected. also watched port get beat by one point by the crows. missed the end and apparently adelaide were given a free kick with 45 seconds to go so sounds to me like a conspiracy. i hope port kick the crows ass this year, and i hope wayne carey slips in a spa and injures himself so he can't play cause he is a tosser.

well i have to go buy myself a clothes horse cause it's raining buckets here and has been for the last 2 days. it's relentless! have no clean clothes [well decent ones anyway] or towels so need to get some alternative drying format other than the washing line. also should invest in an umbrella, cause nothing sucks more than walking to work in the pouring rain [not strictly true...but yeah...it still sucks] - cheerio!
