//minger//

in the window of roger david on rundle mall they have a tshirt that says 'minger' in big bold type right across the chest. surely we're taking the slogan shirt thing a little too far now? why anyone would want to go around advertising the fact that they're a minger is beyond me. and if it's supposed to be some sort of ironic [read moronic?] statement then i think it get's a little lost on the roger david tshirt thing. as pete always says...fun shirts for zany people.

it's just after midnight and i'm drinking coffee. not a good sign. today i got to work at 9am only to be told i wasn't supposed to start until 11.30am. better than being 2.5 hours late, but i counted down the hours until 7.30pm so the day fairly dragged.

i got a call from my very cool friend abi tonight and learn she has finally moved out of the parental abode. drinks at hers on saturday night methinks :) this led to a converstation about our respective 'burbs [her being a 'cove' chick like myself previously]. both of us agree that hallett cove IS a lovely suburb [cough] but just ever so slightly creepy. for example, there are rarely any people around after twilight, either in their gardens or on the road. there's little to no general noise from the houses, which seem to try so hard to be different from all the others that they look surprisingly similar [on a related note i've oft commented on how people from hallett cove look the same when u see them at the mall...they have a sort of want about them]. apart from that it's not bad. my family seem to like it so that makes it home.

tonight i finished the virgin suicides and gee it was great. only took me about 3 train trips to get through it which is always a sign of a good book. i've just started 'lucky' by alice sebold [who wrote 'the lovely bones' about the girl who watches her family splinter from heaven following her sexual assault and murder by a local man] and u can sort of see where her material comes from. it's a memoir of her brutal rape in college and the subsequent healing that ensued. i dunno if i am going to be able to finish it as it's quite harrowing and it almost feels like i'm reading someone's diary on the sly, but will persevere and see how it goes.

limewire is being increasingly lame. i just discovered there are literally tons of jurassic 5 tracks that aren't on their albums/ep but none of them want to d/l for me. i want them all!!! i should hopefully pick up a copy of black eyed peas album tomorrow, can't remember the title, but it's only a tenner so i'll give it a go. i also picked up a copy of ben harper's 'live from mars' and the very best of elvis costello for a tenner each so it's bargain central at this end. my cd pile is looking increasingly healthy and i take great pride in looking through them hehe.

well the weekend is upon me. pool n beer tomorrow night and who knows friday. definately up for a big one on saturday night as i have 2 days off. this might mean i'm awol for a few days. thanks for reading.

//2002-2003//

yay my first posting for the new year. how slack am i? new years seems like old news now. oh well. mine was a ball. went to the minke bar and had a brilliant time. won't spend too much time dwelling on the past though, after all another year is upon us.

still no word about sydney, nice to see some things haven't changed huh? :) i have an interview on friday though so hopefully something will eventuate from this...one way or the other i'd like to know...i'm sick of waiting! plus everyone seems to be moving now. pete has just announced he's off to melbourne lucky sod. at least it's another person to visit there and i kind of like the idea of having friends scattered across the globe. nice to know when u end up in a strange city you can still call on a familiar face [plus get a place to crash of course!]. i'm just anxious to know where i'll end up. it's a mystery!

what else is happening? not much really. i feel a bit out of touch with the whole internet thing it's been so long since i've logged on. i'm still busy getting tracks from limewire, but since it takes an age to d/l anything i think i've got like, 3 tracks. i'm listening to 'original pirate material' by the streets at the moment, and gee i'm in 2 minds abou it. i really love 'push things forward', but the rest of it...well the jury is out. on the book front i just started 'the virgin suicides' which i'm loving. dunno if i mentioned i read 'stasiland'? but i did. book of the month has to be 'rmx' by rinzen. basically it's a squaa group of designers [including designers republic and future farmers - quaa squaa!] who start off with an image/concept and then they have to remix it, and the book has all the entries in it. i love it to bits but unfortunately it's out of my price range at the moment so it has to go up onto the imaginary book shelf with all my other favourite books, such as '2d/3d', 'the art of looking sideways' and 'architecture must burn' [n.b. pls don't be shy to get these things for me if u r reading this and u r in the business of buying me gifts hehe]. i'm still waiting patiently for banksy's 2nd book 'existencillism' and if i were still in school i'd be writing 'banksy' all over my folders and books and crap.

on an unrelated note...keep an eye out for the adventures of squaa and sparrow...who would've known? can't say any more than that.

well i must love u and leave u as it's tuesday night, i'm kicking back with a bailey's and i've just finished all the good ones out of my xmas box of celebrations choccies. waiting patiently to watch a couple of hours of eastenders b4 bed. won't leave it so long next time i promise!

pete...hope u had as much fun reading it as i did writing it hehe
