another night of social commentary in unley and as usual - so many targets, so little time. an interesting discussion arose on the problem of being too young and interesting for your own good. it sort of involved the notion of borderline obsessions and post definition relationships. basically, it's a case of alienation, resulting from an inability to even get past the shoes they're wearing, let alone the crap they come away with. i mentioned casually that i believe i am becoming borderline obsessive about banksy, who i discovered is heading to australia in april, so perhaps a trip to melb/sydney around that time will be on the cards :) hehe...pleasant times in the field!

//call the antiques roadshow, it's a f**king classic//
i got 'banging your head against a brick wall today' by stencil artist banksy and gee it's cool. next to larry clark's 'tulsa' it is the coolest book i own [next on trendy book hitlist - 'the art of looking sideways' - would also love '2d/3d' hint hint]. the guardian said of 'banging...' "nearly a hundred pictures are featured here. each and every one of them a pathetic cry for help", nice to see they're listening. interesting thing...someone else had ordered a copy which arrived the same time as mine which i found kinda cool.
just finished watching bjork's 'volumen' and i have to say how great it is. the video clip for 'bachelorette' is wicked. now watching mtv and the initial verdict is - lame. so far i've seen craig david, snoop dogg, atomic kitten, kylie and leeanne rhimes [whatever]. hmm...hardly burning down the house. but we'll give it time.
last night i forgot to moan about the fact that i SHOULD HAVE BEEN AT DJ SHADOW! i'm still bummed about it. enchanted forest is on this weekend too, but i have my chrissy party. will possibly involve karaoke, so should be alright. free grog which is always a start. unfortunately i have become somewhat responsible for getting the grog, which is a bit of a pain. who can be bothered?
oh well...the week is young. don't spend it all at once.

//miss dy-na-mi-tee//
what a slacker i am. how long since i last wrote anything? 3 days...well you've not missed much let me tell u. here's a summary:
1. went to unisa graduate thing on friday night to see a high school friend's work. got rather drunk and didn't get much sleep, which made working yesterday at 7.30am a real drag. i muddled thru till the afternoon then piked. tho it was supposed to be my day off anywayz...so help yourself.
2. didn't get the job in the uk. not really too fussed about this tho. thought i'd be more disappointed but i think i feel more relieved. i'd have really panicked if it had gone the other way! some reasons i feel less bad about the negative outcome include: my ability to go to the big day out, my cousin kirsty visiting from the uk in february [meaning my sydney and melb. trips are now much more likely], and the upcoming wedding of my friends paul and georgina. i have a wicked idea for a dress too that my friend ben will help me with [unless a more suitable artist can be found b4 then], but details of which will remain secret until i have them figured out a bit more.
3. worked today. very busy. haven't seen any of my friends since thurs/friday nite. angela has moved house and i don't have her new number either so i don't even know what she's up to or where she's ended up living. where for art thou ange!? finished my banana yoshimoto book today and it was great, and also my banksy book came ['banging your head against a brick wall'] and it is most cool.
4. tonite i did some washing, watched the new u2 dvd, then the top of the pops awards [how very lame], discovered that we now have mtv australia [tho how it will compare to it's euro and us brethern will remain to be seen] which will potentially be cool, cause they are showing the new season of the 'osbournes' real soon, but might be lame, cause they'll just be a carbon of channel [v]. i also watched my first episode of 'the office' and it was great. will definately have to keep an eye out for more of that.
work again at 7.30am tomorrow. it's staff day yay!!! that means we get a whopping great big discount on our stuff. i'm not really buying much for myself tho. i've got my french learning kit, amelie on dvd and possibly bjork's volumen, depending on how flush i'm feeling. i am also thinking of new hair styles this week as i plan for a change this friday. something a bit punkier is in order. some sort of 2 tone red/black affair. might just ask them to hack into it a bit. will have to post the results after i get some photos taken. will hopefully get some good ones at our party next saturday.
