i can't believe i've been back living with my parents for so long and this is the first football game i've watched. i haven't even seen any of the scottish league stuff, which i think they show on foxtel? anyway...plenty of goals in this game, shearer just got his century, which doesn't sound like much when u say it like that, thinking of how long he's been playing with newcastle [dunno if that includes his blackburn days...i'm not that football savvy]. gee i miss the world cup! i had a great time down the local pub watching the england games...i was devastated when they lost. oh well...there's always next time.
first saturday night in for a while. oh tho i did babysit the other week there. could have gone to a birthday do tonight but couldn't really be bothered. instead have sat on my own drinking beer and reading my book. everyone else is out being young and interesting, so it sucks being stuck home on yer own...but work is an unfortunate necessity.
speaking of my book i am almost finished. i'm fairly ripping through the books lately. i've read heaps of them. working in a bookstore helps of course :) my next problem is thinking of what to read next. there's a few contenders. still haven't read 'dirt music' by tim winton, and despite the probable pretentions i keep coming back to 'gould's book of fish'. there's another out at the moment called 'april witch' that everyone's yapping about and it does sound fairly interesting and after reading 'after the quake' i will make a point of reading some more murakami. i've also been told to check out some of the new wave of asian female writers, and i might start off with banana yoshimoto, cause she has a great name. will keep y'all posted.
[man u 5, newcastle 3]
tomorrow night i am possibly getting to watch 'battle royale' which will be a great event. i have the tshirt...now i just need to see the film :) i'm hoping it lives up to my expectations. if nothing else will be a tremendous gore fest [plot - japanese school kids have 3 days to kill each other, if they don't, their heads are blown off by explosive neck tags...i think that's about it]. if nothing else the tshirt is very cool.
well i might go see if i can find a free ring tone for my fone. i've got a hankering to change it from chemical bros to daft punk, having seen the notation for 'da funk' in 'ringtone mania 2 - gold edition' hehehe

//this isn't the f*@#ing 'dog and duck'...//
is anyone going to screen 'shoreditch twat' in this godforsaken country? i wanna see it! most of the references will probably be over my head, but i read 'the face' don't i?! and i think 'dazed & confused' is potentially lame! whatever...it sounds great.
oh and another wonderous thing happened today...bjork's 'family tree' arrived in our store. it looks gorgeous! unfortunately i don't have the $180 it costs.
wasn't i going to bed?!

//i'll have a mcfud [tm] with the lot thanx//
why not? they sell them in scotland apparently. but that's a story for another time and may not be my tale to tell.
today, despite being friday, is the beginning of my working week, and the prospect of possibly only having 1 of the next 15 days off is quite depressing, especially when 9 of those days will see me having to be in the city by 7.30am. yay. and i love my job because...?
there was a story on the news just then about some old dude who is into golf, and he's turning 90 or some such age, and his golf club awarded him lifetime membership for his birthday. lifetime membership at that age seems a little lame really. would have been better off getting it 40 years ago or something so he could make the most of it. i'd actually like to go down to the driving range one day and learn how to swing a golf club properly, and smack the crap out of a bucketful of golf balls. i don't fancy wandering for half a day around an 18 hole course and picking them up after myself tho.
i thought i had a funny story to write about but i don't. i think of heaps of things during the day that i should write about because they're fun and interesting, but then i forget what they were. there is the story of the patch minda...but that sounds more funny when you're saying it, writing it down makes it look kinda lame [jist is, friend waiting outside hospital with patch on eye, guys drive past and yell out 'patch minda' - i guess u had to be there].
funny word for the week:- 'flannel'...it rhymes with a lot of other things [don't ask me to list any tho, cause i can't] oh wait...channel
night night

//a ring da da da da da//
i just got back from seeing 'the ring' and i just have to say, top movie. it was so creepy! i really enjoyed it and now i'm hanging to see the originals. hopefully they will remake 'ring 2' as well. we saw it at the drive in and being my first time there was a bit of an experience for me. made all the stranger because there was 3 of us trying to cram into the front of the car so we could all see the movie properly. it was good fun tho despite getting eaten by mozzies.
not a bad day in the end up. stinky didn't get his wash poor old thing, but i got to go for a beer [rule #1 - always remember to make sure it's coopers' when ordering a pale ale, cause you might end up with southwark like we did which sucked.. i can still taste it when i burp yuck!] and sit in the sun at the grand, have several coffees and generally just bum around.
anywayz bedtime for me...work tomorrow [how lame]

//jamie oliver sleeps well again tonight//
i have just ruined my breakfast. i made the bacon ok...no worries...but then i decided to put it in the toastie toastie maker and it just screwed up. the bread has all stuck to the top of the machine and the egg has spilled out everywhere. it looks like a dogs dinner...it doesn't taste too bad, but i think i might be eating raw egg, cause bits of it are creepily cold. hardly cordon bleu but i still managed to ruin it :( oh well...at least my oj is ok...sigh
maybe some chocolate will make up for it...

//bacon sarnie guv'nor//
i am about to make the unhealthiest breakfast known to mankind...a bacon and egg sarnie [wif hp sauce]. YUCK! i'm absolutely starving tho and the thought of cereal makes me want to puke. i can't really be bothered cooking tho. my healthy eating regime has gone squaaly out the window which i knew it would. i will try to eat an apple and banana afterwards hehe i really need to pull my socks upi think.
well today i have a day off [another one?! the collective groan] and i'm glad not to be doing too much. i might wash stinky [my car...no it doesn't stink it just suits the name] cause he's black. i might sit out the back and get started on my new book. i might also go to the drive in tonight to see 'the ring' [dadadadada]. i've never once been to the drive in during my 7 years here so it will be an experience for me i'm sure.

//"thank you for your interest"//
tonight i am the proud owner of an original 'a bathing ape' tshirt, brought squaaly back from london by my lovely friend james! i am so very very excited :) this puts to rest any question of the authenticity of the ones we saw in streetcore. they are mere dishrags in comparison to this. the design is excellent, the quality is great [double lined tshirt!] and it comes in a wicked 'bathing ape' bag and is just so great! what a great great day.
i also got a copy of 'time out london' and after reading a review of '28 days later' [the new movie by the trainspotting crew] i can't wait to see it. it's about a deadly virus called 'rage' that is unleashed on london, wiping out the city and causing widespread biological disaster. apparently the scenes of deserted london streets are amazingly eerie and i can't wait to see them. hopefully they will prove more fiction than fact tho after hearing on the news of supposed terrorist threats against the city, including threatened poison gas attacks on the london underground. it is indeed a crazy world we're living in. more on the film front, one of my favourite scottish authors has had his book 'morvern callar' turned into a film that also looks very good.
speaking of london my meter went through the roof today after booking my ticket to the capital :) if i get my new job i'll leave adelaide on jan 10th...how exciting! if i don't get it, well i'll use it to fly another time so all good. today really couldn't have been much more full on in terms of cool things happening! plus i got a free copy of the new ben elton book 'high society'.
time for a cuppa and a biccie methinks :)

//monday monday//
today was half boring and half wicked. fortunately the boring half of the day was the first half, so now i'm kicking back and watching footballer's wives with a packet of crisps. it's the last episode tonight and it's as trashy as ever. bliss...
i had a squaa coffee session with pete, ange, trish and lisa tonight which was fun. i found out lisa is going to be in london next year and we have agreed to go to glastonbury in june which i hope comes off cause it would be amazing to go to. i've always wanted to and it would be a huge amount of fun!
since i'm always posting up web sites i thought id add another to the list. please visit area101 and have a play with the graffitti design lab...it's very cool!
anywayz...bedtime for me...back to work tomorrow grumble grumble. hey i might book my flight to london tomorrow! [premature i know...but getting a flight is going to be a bitch if i leave it any longer and this thing comes off!] what a world of excitement...night night!
[ps footballer's wives just finished and left me with so many cliffhangers it's not funny! i can't wait till next year to see what happens...lame!]

//the week starts here//
jeeze i'm up late tonight. i got carried away watching 'the royal tenenbaums' and 'harry potter' and forgot that i had to do up my resume and email it to work by tomorrow so i can apply for this job thing. both films were great btw. royal tenenbaums has a beagle in it! he's so cute! unfortunately he dies. harry potter was really great too. thought it was about time i saw it so i can go see the 2nd one at the same time as everyone else :) i'm also looking forward to seeing 'the ring' cause i've heard that it's great.
well i should go to bed now. i have to work for a short time tomorrow and try and find some more information on flights. probably a little premature, but i'm in a bit of a tizz now because flight centre have told me that there's no seats available until jan 13th at earliest which might affect my chances of getting the job. hopefully something sooner will come up. and i have to buy some ribena, cause i have a craving for it after drinking some earlier today. anywayz...i've had a big weekend and i'm stuffed...cya!
