//life of leisure day 1//

first day of the holidays and i go for an eye test only to be told i now have to wear my glasses all the time. this week will therefore be dedicated to finding a squaa pair of frames as i'd rather go blind than wear the ones i've got now all the time cause they're gross. so far the clear favourites are a nice pair of black rimmed, square gucci ones, which also happen to be the most expensive i have seen. typical. i'm in two minds about the whole thing. on the one hand it sucks having to wear them all the time. on the other hand glasses are kind of cool if they are decent looking ones.

tonight i am still a little sore from the gym. the chick who took the class was a real task master too. she kept saying things like "this is your punishment" and i'm wondering, what have i done that was so wrong? having said this it was a good class. tomorrow me and ange are taking on mt lofty then im going for a swim at the beach and a walk with pete (oi if you're reading this let me know if it's still on luvvie). i'm on a bit of a health kick at the moment, and it will be interesting to see how long it lasts! i give it, oh, 2 days or so hehe

//ways to spend money pt 2//

me and pete have been having this discussion about the very few very expensive concept of living (see neveralone for part one). i'm all for it. however, i thought he meant very few (as in rare) very expensive things, so that i had lots of good gear that not many other people had. this is more up my street. my terrace house in notting hill, my manhattan loft and my harbourside hideaway in sydney will be crammed full of one off designer goodies that are very few in number, and very expensive in price.

there are always 2 sides to every concept :)

on a more sombre note...

today we observed a minutes silence for those who were killed, injured or are still missing in bali. the tragedy is a world away from my own life experiences, despite being closer to home than ever, and i can't comprehend what people must be going through. my thoughts are with all of those who have been touched by it.

//holiday celebrate//

i'm in a much better mood today. helped in no small way by starting my holidays tonight. also i bought a new pair of shoes which is always nice. it's been one of the longest weeks i think, and no doubt the next 2 will just fly in and i'll be back at work before i know it.

i'm going through a bit of an obsession with listening to lauryn hill. i just bought her mtv unplugged album and i'm really enjoying it. i'm not really into her 'messenger from god' mantra, cause that would make me hypocritical, but her music is good which is the main thing as far as i'm concerned.

something i'm sure ms hill wouldn't be too keen on is http://www.burberry.com...hello! i think i'm about ready to take my place with the aristocratic set. i'm thinking 'hello!' magazine meets 'country life'. when i'm ready to join the idle rich i have a whole list of hobbies i can take up to keep me amused when i'm not doing pr or some such thing. sigh... for now maybe i'll just have to settle for a handbag. a steal at only $650!

i can practice filling up my time during my holidays in preparation for joining the upper crust. here's a list of things i plan to do over the coming fortnight:

1. visit the cooper's brewery
2. get drunk
3. walk up and down mt. lofty
4. sit around in my pyjamas all day singing to loud music
5. shop
6. 'do' lunch
7. get drunk
8. plan my international adventures
9. dye my hair black and red
10. drink some more

the fortnight is full of wonder and promise.

//yawn//

1 more day of work before annual leave. 2weeksoff2weeksoff2weeksoff2weeksoff2weeksoff...etc etc. i worked 7.30am til 7.00pm today and went out after so i'm pretty gone. there's so much to do at work at the moment and because of holidays it means i'm working like a bitch, so it almost feels that holidays aren't worth it, cause i'm working so much at the moment :) i also felt a bit put off by some birds who got into the store the other week there. i discovered tonight that one of them crapped on one of my favourite books that i'd hidden there specially for possible future purchases. i don't know that i want it now. there's another copy but it's not in as nice condition and i want a nice one :( it is covered in shrinkwrap though so i'm possibly just being completely unreasonable here... i'll just have to get over it. i should really stop buying books. do i really need a large hardback architecture book in my collection, when i know jack about architecture in the first place, i just like looking at the designs, and when i'm supposed to be moving to the uk in less than a year and could do with the $120odd this will cost and besides won't have any room as it is to take all my junk with me? curiouser and curiouser

i was at the belgian bar again tonight, which makes 2 nights in a row. i needed to make up for the half stella i had to leave last night cause i had to pick up my old man. i actually quite like it there. it's got a weird mix of people though, very business set, with a few young'uns thrown in for good measure. i do get a bit sick of hearing plebs paying out their method of preparing beer though. why don't they just eff off to the exeter or the crown and anchor and get a vb or something. the beer actually tastes good in case anyone didn't notice and at a fiver a go for a stella it's not too extravagant either. it's nice to know the glasses are clean in any case.

i had a good rant tonight actually about the above and people in general. this was egged on by my delirious state of tiredness (and equally nasty friends hehe). there's a couple of things i'm sick of. people hounding you at restaurants and pubs wanting money off you for flowers and weird things like that for a start. last thing i need is a rose at $8 (insert whatever rip off price here - this isn't a quote) thanks all the same. i think pubs should kick these people out, especially when the place is absolutely rammed and this geezer is bumping into everyone with his basket and generally being a nuisance. i'd also like to see demerit points issued for lameness, this rant is aimed specifically at drivers on busy streets. minus points for crappy speakers with loud bass that makes the tyres buzz (lame), yelling and honking of horns at people on the street (i'll get to them in a minute), playing lame music in general (think the 'logical song' or whatever it's called, people u should be ashamed). one last rant about tonight - WHAT ARE PEOPLE WEARING?! there's some bizarre choices out there and i can just hear the giggles of our children and grandchildren 20/30 years from now. people are trying way to hard to incorporate every fashion fad of the season into the one outfit; peasant skirt with blue stone (whatever they're called) belt, with pointy toe shoes, lacey vest, with denim bits wherever they'll fit. it's awful...mix n match people. it looks like supre exploded and the clothes landed on everyone all at once. oh and i saw someone's bum crack tonight cause their skirt was too short, yuck. it's a privilege not a right love. meow meow. not that i'm perfect i was still wearing my work clothes consisting of baggy old jeans and sneakers and looked like a complete feral :)

i'm off to bed...i'm missing complete syllables of some words as i type here and it's not good.

things i did today to help me get to london; 2 including the start of my savings fund (already looking somewhat healthy but not really cause i tried, i cheated but i'm still counting it) and also just talking about it in general. always a motivating factor.
